Guide for identifying and repairing abnormal vibration and noise in DL, DD and DJ roof evaporators
The air cooler hanging from the ceiling of the refrigerating room will produce abnormal vibration and noise that spread through the building structure. Many times, the noise comes not from the external condenser but from the internal evaporator itself.
The most common noise source is the evaporator fan. Worn bearings will produce gradual metallic buzz or noise, which will increase with the increase of rotating speed. If the fan blades are deformed or unevenly iced, dynamic imbalance and severe vibration will occur.
The second source is the pause point. If the equipment is firmly fixed without anti-vibration elements, all the vibration of the fan will be transferred to the ceiling beam. Vibration propagates throughout the structure and is heard in the room adjacent to the cold storage room, even outside the cold storage facility.
Another common cause is resonance. The vibration frequency of the fan matches the natural frequency of the roof structure, which greatly amplifies the perceived noise. Changing the speed of the fan slightly may break the resonance condition.
Noise will also be generated during the thawing cycle: heat will cause thermal expansion of fins and copper pipes, thus generating sparks. This noise is normal to some extent, but if it is excessive, it may indicate that the accessory is too rigid and does not allow the parts to expand.
Diagnostic procedure: First, determine whether the noise only occurs when the fan is rotating or only during melting. Check the condition of bearings and fan blades. Check all suspension points to ensure that anti-vibration dampers have been installed and have not been crushed or damaged.
Additional rigid elements should not be added to "better fix" the evaporator, which will aggravate the transmission of vibration. The goal is to isolate the equipment from the structure, not to stop all its small moves.
Problems in the cooling circuit can also produce noise: the refrigerant flow is unstable, and the liquid hits the DL,DD or DJ inlet of the evaporator. In this case, it is necessary to check the overheating, expansion valve and coolant load of the whole system, including FNH, FNH,FNV,FNVT condensers.
