Overpressure of FNH, FNV and FNVT air-cooled condensers: Causes, risks and practical solutions.
Condensation overpressure is one of the most common faults in industrial refrigeration system. When the condensation pressure exceeds the design value, it will cause risks to compressors, pipelines and circuit components.
The reasons can be divided into several blocks. First of all, the air flow problem in the condenser: dirty coils, fans not turning or turning in the wrong direction, and hot air circulating through nearby obstacles. All these reduce the heat dissipation capacity.
Second, the refrigerant is overloaded. If more coolant fluid is introduced than needed, it will partially occupy the volume in the condenser, reduce the useful surface area of heat exchange and increase the condensation pressure. Many technicians add refrigerant without measuring parameters, which aggravates the problem.
Third, the outdoor temperature is very high in summer. If the capacitor does not have enough safety margin at the local maximum temperature and is too large, it will enter the overvoltage state on the hottest day of the year.
Fourthly, the indirect fault originated from the evaporator side. When the DL,DD or DJ cooler is very dirty or full of frost, the system works under abnormal heat load, thus responding by increasing the pressure of the external condenser.
The risk of maintaining continuous overpressure is high: power consumption increases significantly, compressor lubricating oil degrades prematurely, safety prestress is activated, and in extreme cases, joints are broken and coolant leaks.
Orderly diagnosis procedure: first, visually check the operation of the fan and the cleaning of the coil. Then check whether there is hot air recirculation through the obstacle. Then check the actual load of refrigerant. Finally, check the drying and cleaning status of evaporators DL, DD and DJ.
